Coached pool training sessions are held until early December, when we break for the open water swimming season over the summer months.
Sessions are held at the following times:
Sessions suit a variety of ability levels and cover general fitness, stroke correction, and open water and pool competition preparation.
Each session costs $5, plus the usual pool entry fee.
All Sunday sessions are followed by a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of Ted's beautiful fruit cake.
This is a great time to catch up with old friends. and make new and lasting friendships.
Swimmers are more than welcome to come along and to try up to three training sessions prior to joining the club.
Bring a drink bottle, swim goggles, fins, and a pull buoy to each session. While not compulsory, swim snorkel and paddles are recommended.
A number of keen swimmers swim at Point Lonsdale on Sunday morning at 9:00am, and often on Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 am.
Meet on the foreshore between Kirk Road and the shops. Swimmers generally stay for a cuppa at Pasquinis after the swim.
All pool sessions are under the guidance of Toby Durden.
Toby is a Nationally accredited ASCTA Bronze Licence swim coach with 6 years active coaching experience and many years of swimming under his belt, including open water, waterpolo and triathlon. He loves his open water swims and has 9 Pier-to-Pubs under his speedos, and is biding his time to join the Shark Bait club as his kids come of age.
In addition to his new role with the Boroughcoutas, Toby continues to provide relief coaching across a number of the junior squads at Geelong Swimming Club and has also coached with the Country Development and Open Water Squads run via Swimming Victoria’s Development Program.
